In Ecuador, 18 tax laws are monitored by the tax authority SRI, with value-added tax (IVA) representing a significant source of revenue. E-invoicing has been being introduced in stages since 2014 and, by 2024, will be mandatory for most legal and natural persons. In 2015, an offline version of the electronic invoicing system was introduced, also monitored by SRI.
