In Colombia, as in most Latin American countries, e-invoicing requires an active connection with the fiscal authorities. There is additionally a requirement to submit what are known as ‘magnetic media reports’.

Taxes are levied both at the national level (e.g. income tax, VAT) and at the local level (e.g. business tax). While the tax system is relatively straightforward in design, there are complex requirements in terms of e-invoicing and e-accounting or reporting. Companies must notify the fiscal authority (DIAN) of all transactions with customers, service providers or other third parties by means of ‘magnetic media reports’. The basis for submitting the complex report is correct accounting. Depending on the type of business, reporting is annual, monthly or annually with monthly intervals. The magnetic media report has 7 formats. In order to create it in SAP, the implementation of OSS Notes is required together with the appropriate system configuration to comply with the current specifications of DIAN.
